Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Anyone know old dead head wind dancer?

Trying to find an old friend. Went by the name of wind dancer. He Traveled with the Greatful dead in the late '70s.
Was a well known dancer. At one point was photographed on one of their posters or flyers. Hung out in Eugene Ore. in '79. May be living in santa cruz. Anyone know anyone by that name?? Please help me find him. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
S

avasmiles,
I wish I could help you, but I can't. I'm only posting a reply because that name sounds so familiar to me, although I don't know why. My sister, Stephany, has been married for many years to a man named Sequoia. They did a lot of west coast shows, more early 80's, though. Some Rainbows, too. They have lived for a long time in Ashland, OR. Could possibly ring a bell to them.

Aloha,
How amazing! I grew up in Ashland ore. And williams ore. The truth of the matter is it was my mothers relationship with wind dancer. I said it was my friend because I thought it would be easier in my search. My mother traveled around up and down the west coast where she met wind dancer in 1979 during a show in eugene ore. With the calculations of my birth it was in June. They spend a few weeks together and created me. She then found out she was pregnant with me by the time she reached bisbee arizona. Her name is Devorah. All I have is a name of him to go on and a poster that I belive he is dancing on. A dream of one day somehow connecting. So, here I be. Doing what I can to send it out into the universe.Im 26 now and gave bith recently to a baby girl. I live in maui and still no matter how many times I say to let it go, I have hope...hope I will recieve my dream to somehow find him. My mother never knew his birth name. Just that wind dancer is out there somewhere... Thank you so much for replying this is the closest I have gotten in years. through the circle of my mothers old friends, this guy named uncle haireye I heard maybe he was in Santa cruz but I dont know. Thank you for taking the time to read this.. . any suggestions you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Aloha from Maui.. Sarah

avasmiles-
Above all, I wish you the best of luck in locating the man. As I said, I don't even know why that name sounds familiar. I might just be imagining that I had heard it. But the fact that you used to live in Ashland might prove to be a significant link in your search. Then again, it could be a dead end, no pun intended here on the Grateful Dead forum.

Fact is, my sister and I have not been on the best of terms for the past couple of years, but if she can be of help, I do not doubt that she would more than happy to do what she can. But it does present a little bit of a sticky situation. It probably would have been wise for me to have kept my nose out of anything that would involve her without checking in with her first. Nonetheless, you have important issues, and while Stephany and I don't communicate as amicably as we once did, that doesn't mean she would not be amenable toward assisting you if, in fact, she can.

I'll pass along her email address. Tell her I gave it to you because you mentioned that you had lived in Ashland. Just so she won't delete it as spam, I guess the subject line of the email should say "Stephany, Your Brother Bryan Gave Me Your Address," or something to that effect. Go on to explain why you're writing to her with all of the info you gave me. Normally, I wouldn't just give out her address, and if you mention to her that I told you that, I would appreciate it. That way I might be able to dodge a royal ass-chewing. But don't let my saying that deter you. It would probably also be of some benefit to tell her that you and I connected through the Grateful Dead forum at archive.org. She'll know from that, at least from my end, that it's legit. If Wind Dancer ran in any of the same circles as she and her husband, I am confident she will be willing to do what she can to steer you in some direction closer to finding him. I saw that someone replied by saying somebody named Rainbozo could know of his whereabouts, so if they don't know Wind Dancer, maybe they know him.

Again, good luck!

BryanE

And just as soon as I posted this, I realized it would be better to post my own email address instead of hers so you can contact me. I'll pass along hers more privately:
